About the Mánes Building
The Mánes building (Budova Mánes) is one of Prague’s most iconic examples of Czech functionalist architecture. Completed in 1930 by architect Otakar Novotný, it was designed as a modern exhibition space for the Mánes Association of Fine Artists. The building is uniquely positioned directly above the Vltava River, connecting the riverbank with the historic Šítkovská Water Tower. Its clean geometric lines, glass façades, and riverside terraces make it a distinctive cultural landmark. Today, Mánes hosts art exhibitions, social events, and gastronomic experiences, combining its architectural heritage with a contemporary atmosphere.
