Gala dinner at the former wastewater treatment plant with a tour included in the registration fee
The former wastewater treatment plant is a unique example of the history of architecture, engineering and wastewater treatment. It was built between 1901 and 1906 as the final part of the Prague sewer system it is the oldest preserved facility of its kind in Europe. The plant was responsible for cleaning the majority of Prague’s wastewater until 1967.
The tour includes a visit to the underground operations building, where we will learn about the history of sewerage and wastewater treatment. One floor above, in the steam engine room, still-functional pump units from 1903 will be seen – these are put into operation on special occasions.
Due to the fact that the MELPRO 2022 conference is also a special occasion, the organizers ensured the operation of the steam engines during the tour for the conference participants.
